Billie's 110th Big Band Birthday Bash Luther Burbank Center for the Arts Click Here to purchase tickets The Billie Holiday Project, a show researched and penned by vocalist and bandleader Stella Heath, debuted in 2019. The show was met with quick success, selling out houses around the Bay Area and cross-country to New York City. Scaling up the production in 2025, for Billie’s 110th Birthday, the show features big band arrangements by pianist, Neil Fontano. The 10 piece big band will feature some of the Bay Area’s finest swing musicians, including: Clint Baker (Trumpet/Trombone) Johnny Bones (Saxophone) Vic Wong (Guitar) Robby Elfman (Saxohohone/Clarinet) Daniel Fabricant (Bass) Riley Baker (Trombone) Kamrin Ortiz (Saxhophone). The performance will feature professional swing dancers for select songs. Shrouded in mystery as she was draped in fur, Billie was multi-faceted; she possessed a sensitivity and ability to make the songs she sang as personal as if she was singing them softly in your very own ear. Stella’s band brings back the electric and intimate feeling of seeing Lady Day live in a 1940’s concert hall. |
